Victory Grill

It's not every day that you can sit down at a restaurant and feel as if you’ve never left home, but when you walk into Victory Grill you can almost hear you mom telling you that dinner is served.

Like a Saturday afternoon in July, burgers, fries, and sandwiches make up their inexpensive traditional American food menu.

Most exciting on that menu is their bacon infused burger. The bacon on this acclaimed burger lies not just in limp strips on the top, but chopped into bits and mixed into the fresh, never frozen meat that is ground in house at Victory Grill. This burger can be accompanied by a challenge where eating one pound cheeseburger and one pound of fries gets your proud face on the wall of, you guessed it, victory!

Just as noteworthy as their burgers is their name. Not only does Victory Grill share part of their name with both nearby Victory Park and Victory elementary school, but it also echoes the name of their predecessor, Victory Fountain. Victory Fountain thrived in the 50’s and 60’s, serving as a hangout for teen’s afterschool. The building’s name might be Victory Grill now, but they still strive to encapsulate that same nostalgic, home-style environment with their comfortable décor that makes you feel right at home.

Victory is more than just a tradition at the grill; it’s a lifestyle. As a small, family owned business, they are serving more than just meals. They are offering Stocktonians a way to help nurse Stockton back to health just by sitting down for a burger with their friends and family.

Supporting local businesses creates an economic advantage because it develops a community with distinctive character. This character then fosters a competitive market which puts a downward pressure on prices as a result. Supporting local businesses also means that their revenue will cycle largely through Stockton’s economy. It also means that decisions intended to improve the community’s well fare will be championed by those who actually live in this community and have an important stake in the effectiveness of those decisions. When you eat out you should think about more than just what you want to eat, but what you want to encourage in your community as well. Victory Grill provides both good food and a good cause.

But don’t just take my word for it. Stop by and check it out the grill for yourself and get your face on the wall of victory. Also, stop by their Yelp page or like them on Facebook!
