My name is Katie Van Winkle. I am a junior currently studying English at the University of the Pacific. Stockton, CA has been my home for 21 and together we've been through the good, the bad, and the ugly. It might be easy to label Stockton as a lost cause, but nowhere else I have I seen community more diverse and resilient than here in the San Joaquin valley and I think that speaks volumes about Stockton's character above and beyond what can be said about our crime rate.

 Blame is not to be placed distantly on a phantom scape goat as a crutch to lean on. We are all jointly accountable for the well-being of our city. The power to change for the better is in our hands and it is our civic duty to become active participants in the prosperity of our community.

My goal is that you might find a blog post that speaks to you and your interests and that, as a result, you, your family, and your friends might lend a helping hand in giving Stockton a brighter future. It only takes one person to make a difference.
